Specialized have been at the top end of the bike market for many years, and it’s no secret that they make an incredible set of kit to match. Donned by many of the worlds elite, the Specialized Element SL is no exception to the pedigree.

— SPECIALIZED BICYCLES COMPANY – THE NEED TO KNOW —

Perfect for keeping you covered, warm and comfortable on autumn or crisp winter days in the saddle, we love the element long sleeve jersey. A sleek, race fit with a minimal design and perfect engineering, it’ll come as no surprise that we’d include this in our training wardrobe “must haves”.

The Features:

Made of a 3 layer fabric with a waterproof layer in between, this jersey is ideal for the days you know aren’t going to be on the warm side. A water repelling treatment keeps the showers off, without the need for endless layers and waterproofs. You can stay stylish, push the pace and keep yourself dry.

— HOW TO GET FIT FAST —

The rear pockets are neatly covered with a flap to keep the elements from getting into your valuables for longer. Open construction on the shoulders helps to keep you dry from inside the jersey. Letting all the moisture out from the inside, it won’t let you down. The back is longer than the front to keep the rain and mud off!

Performance:

We really like riding in this jersey. It was neatly fitting and very comfortable, offering all the durability we wanted. The Specialized Element SL jersey gave us the confidence to go fast, whilst keeping us protected. It was the perfect mixture of flexible & durable – allowing us to really trust the equipment.

— PETER SAGAN VS GRANDMA JOAN —

It felt light on the body, and certainly wasn’t restrictive. We were completely able to focus on the bike and the ride – we barely even had chance to notice the jersey. With an RRP of £149.99, it’s certainly not at the cheap end of the range. Although currently selling at £69.99 makes it far more affordable!

Aesthetics:

Keeping a very simple aesthetic, the jersey doesn’t grab too much attention. Reflective panels on the back help with visibility, though the dark nature of the jersey isn’t particularly on the safe side. Though for day time rides, it’ll more than do the trick. The yellow option lends itself much more towards the safe side.

— BEST FITNESS IMPROVEMENTS YOU CAN BUY —

Specialized Element SL Race Long Sleeve Jersey

Available in black and orange as well as yellow and black – you can pick a colour to suit the rest of your gear. Keeping you slick at the cafe stop, we’d definitely recommend this jersey for your weekend long ride. Though as it’s a race fit it’s certainly on the tight side, so you might have to go a size up if you lean towards that extra slice of cake.

Verdict:

This jersey is in keeping with the rest of the Specialized brand. Sleek, stylish and made for performance. We thoroughly enjoyed testing it, and with the new reduced price tag, we’d recommend the Element SL to any road rider.
