It could be time to finally hang the summer gear up for the year and welcome back an autumn wardrobe. For any cyclist or commuter, a jacket is one of the most important weapons in the arsenal. On the surface, the Endura Luminite 2 has everything you’d possibly need. Designed for commuters, roadies and mountain bikers alike. A jacket that can be used right through to the end of the year is always a bonus.

Endura have been getting it right for a number of years now. The Scottish brand, based in Livingston, certainly know a thing or two about waterproof jackets, could be a reflection of the weather up there. So we knew that we wouldn’t be disappointed when we donned the jacket and headed out for a test spin!

Aesthetic:

The high-vis green dof the Luminite 2 is certainly visible no matter what the conditions. The reflective panels are all very visible from the right angles. Reflective strips on both the front and the back pick up light just as well as the Altura Night Vision range. With multiple endura logos that will also catch any headlights giving you maximum safety. Strips around the sleeves on both sides mean you can indicate and feel safe in the process.

A large pocket on the bottom of the back comes with a huge Endura logo to make sure no matter what your position on the bike, safety comes first. The pocket is great for tucking away any valuables you may not want in a rucksack, if you’re carrying one. A small Luminite LED light fitted into the back adds yet another layer.

The jacket is only currently available in high vis green, which isn’t everyone’s flavour of choice. Though this will keep you safe and secure out on the roads.

Performance:

The pockets on the back of the Luminite 2 jacket are a great addition to the performance with the light. We’d like to see a few more vents on the jacket, to help the breathability. It did get slightly clammy on the inside of the Jacket, though it certainly kept the weather out for longer.

When you’re being battered by the elements a reliable outer layer like this one is certainly what you need. The tapered seems help you keep the weather out in all the right places. A waterproof rating of 10,000 means that the jacket will keep out more than just light showers. We found it to be dry in a heavy shower as well as keeping us warm underneath.

Endura have even included small pockets for you to slip handwarmers inside. You may laugh now, though in depths of winter that could be a real goer on the dark morning commute.

Verdict:

The 360 degree visibility mixed with a great performance means this jacket is certainly worth considering for when the days get dark. A price tag of only £59.99 means the jacket is certainly at the affordable end of the market.
