With cross & gravel bikes becoming increasingly popular, it wasn’t ever going to be long before all road bikes began to take off. Allowing you truly explore without the worry of damaging your race bike – or having to spend a fortune replacing parts. The staff at cycle store have always had a bit of a soft spot for the things coming out of the Californian lab and we loved the previous Diverge. So we were super excited to try the new Diverge E5.
While the real fun starts where the road ends you still need a bike that’ll get you there. One bike that shreds flowy single track gravel and traditional roads with equal authority. A more capable road bike won’t cut it. Nor will a more road-worthy cross bike for that matter.
You need a dedicated gravel bike like the Diverge. First and foremost its fun and always down for a good time but with our fast and stable Open Road Geometry and plenty of tire clearance it redefines the possibilities for adventure on a drop-bar bike.
Specialized wanted to ensure that the new Diverge E5 rides comfortably, shifts crisply and brakes smoothly for years to come. So you’ll find a Shimano Claris 8-speed group set, hassle-free mechanical disc brakes, the fan-favorite Power Sport Saddle and a durable Axis Sport Disc wheel set thats been cased in our fast-rolling 35mm Roadsport tyres with built-in flat protection. The new diverge E5 will fit tyres much wider than that giving clearance for up to 42mm.
The Diverge has everything you need for pretty much any pedal-powered adventure—whether its gravel racing, bike packing or weekend shredding. It has plenty of space for racks, mounts and bottle cages should you want to fit them. The down tube is designed to give you the stiffness where you need it with it’s rounder over sized profile.
You can think of the Diverges geometry as a road version of a modern trail bike. It provides playful handling and predictable steering for endless dirt skids and mid-corner drifts but keeps stiffness up to snuff for your inner-racer. Along with a bottom bracket that’s over a half-centimeter lower than the previous Diverge. The cables are all kept internal to keep it clean, crisp and out of trouble.
Specialized also slacked-out the head tube angle shortened the chain stays and made a shorter wheelbase. The result? A bike that performs equally well over both the dirt and road. You really can feel confident on a variety of terrains.
The full FACT carbon fibre fork keeps overall weight low and takes the sting out of road imperfections with ease. Available in 3 colours, there’s something for everyone with this bike.
If you’re looking for a high quality all road bike that won’t break the bank. This could definitely be the option for you. With a mix of colour options and a competitive spec, the Diverge E5 allows you to get further and unlock more.
