So British Cycling this week announced that disc brakes WILL be allowed in road racing from the 1st of January 2018!

This is great news if you want race bike performance and geometry with the best braking available. Specialized and Giant have an increasing number of disc brake race bikes and a rather cool Aluminium Cannondale!

Here are our favourites from each.

Giant’s new Propel Disc is WILD and starts at only £3000 with carbon wheels….good work Giant!

If your after something a little less aero and more traditional, look no further…Specialized’s S-Works Tarmac Disc… This bike handles exceptionally well & would still be a fantastic choice for your money.

however the range also starts at a more reasonable £2800, although maybe still a bit far fetched for your price bracket.
