At the bottom of the Liv Avail range, the Avail SL 2 disc claims to come with all the features you’d want from a performance road bike. At an affordable price in a comfortable package. We had a closer look at the features and engineering Giant’s sister brand have chosen for this bike.

Disc brake technology offers braking confidence and control in variable conditions and the integrated D-Fuse seat post reduces road vibration and fatigue. A modern endurance geometry has been carefully designed for the female form to offer a smooth, all day ride experience. The Feeling:

Having sold a couple of these bikes already in 2019, we love hearing the feedback from the riders out on the road. The components have been carefully selected to fit the bike and the geometry is as comfy as it says. The compact handlebars mean that you’ll have no issues getting onto the drops. The saddle pushes you into a more sporty riding position though remains comfortable and isn’t too aggressive.

— DISC BRAKES OR RIM BRAKES – WHICH IS BETTER? —

The Giant SR-2 disc wheelset rolls nicely over the terrain and mixed with the chosen tyres, offers a very smooth ride. Giant have done well to ensure that all the components are manufactured in house to a high standard. Providing a top quality, all round product and keeping control of the price.

Verdict:

At an affordable price, the Liv Avail SL 2 Disc Road Bike comes with absolutely all the features you’d want. We found it slightly on the heavy side compared to it’s competitors. Though if you’re looking for an all round road bike that’s ready to perform from the get go, without breaking the bank, this is the bike for you.
