The clever pixel dot print fabric in subtle in the day time but lights up like a Christmas tree when car headlights catch it. The Sportive waterproof jacket is small and packable, it’ll roll neatly up and fit into a jersey pocket with ease. Madison have managed to achieve this without sacrificing the performance of the jacket. 2.5 layer fabric construction is fully tape seamed and is fully waterproof, windproof and breathable. The Madison Sportive Waterproof comes complete with a 15K waterproof and 15K breathable ratings.
The tailored cycle specific fit is both comfortable and functional. Not on the tight side, but it certainly won’t be flapping around when you’re tapping the pedals into a headwind. The Sportive Waterproof jacket has no mesh lining which helps to keep it light weight and easy to stow away.

The articulated arms offer an excellent fit and the extended cuffs give maximum coverage from the elements. The rear zippered pocket offers whether protection for small essentials but there’s no chest pocket like in some of the other waterproof jackets.
Aesthetics:
Available in two colours, both of the two jackets have a similar aesthetic. Available in Flame Red or Flash Green, the jackets have been designed around performance and functionality. Keeping them as visible as possible, there isn’t a black option for this jacket.
The Madison Sportive will be great for commuting when the seasons change and the night draws in. Early mornings in the dark are much safer in this jacket. We appreciate that Madison haven’t gone too overboard with the reflective strips so that the jacket doesn’t look out of place in the day as well as keeping the branding to a minimum.

Verdict:
For a reduced price tag of £40, the Madison Sportive successfully holds its own against any others out there on the market. It’s safe, simple design doesn’t appeal to the more stylish rider, but performance is again at the top of the agenda for this garment. We enjoyed testing this jacket and consider it great value for money, definitely worth looking into for the morning commutes.
