Sometimes the weather is just a bit too much. But we live in Britain, so if we didn’t ride cause of a bit of rain, we’d barely ever get two wheels on the road. A solid waterproof jacket can make a huge difference to your ride. Whether you’re heading into the office on the bike or out for a couple of hours on the weekend, if the rain is coming down the Madison Stellar waterproof jacket could be the one for you.
The Stellar jacket resets the standard for commuter jackets. Giving you complete faith in the gear, it comes packed with simple but effective features to make sure you keep the weather out and the warmth in.
A 2.5 layer construction keeps the Stellar Jacket fully taped, waterproof, windproof and highly breathable. The tailored cycle specific fit is both comfortable and functional and doesn’t come out on the small side like some cycling gear.
The Stellar features an extended drop tail to offer maximum coverage against dirt and spray. This drop tail tucks up and stays hidden with magnets when you are off the bike. This gives the Stellar jacket a more casual look when you finally make it to the cafe stop.
The Stellar has no mesh lining making it lighter and less bulky when it is stowed in your pockets when the weather finally clears. Articulated arms offer an excellent fit and the extended cuffs give maximum coverage from the elements right down to your gloves.
Huge reflective panels wrap around the arms and lower back and offer sublime night time visibility. A large zippered rear pocket is roomy enough to store all of your valuables whilst in the saddle and a chest pocket for quick access items. The Stellar jacket also comes with a custom rear LED light-clip. This allows you to fix your favourite rear light for maximum night-time visibility.
Available in three colours, all of the Madison Stellar jackets have the same aesthetic. Stealth black, chilli red and hi-viz yellow make up the three options. With identical pockets and reflective strips, performance and functionality has driven the design of this jacket.
The hi-viz yellow option is arguably the best for commuting when the seasons change and the night draws in. Early mornings in the dark are much safer in this jacket. Though all three options have a sleek aesthetic without being too close fitting.
For a price tag of £40, this jacket successfully holds its own against any others out there on the market. A jacket that performs in the racing world, despite coming at often over half the cost. It’s safe, simple design doesn’t appeal to the more stylish rider, but performance is again at the top of the agenda for this garment. We enjoyed testing this jacket and consider it great value for money, definitely worth looking into.
